What to wear to your autumn family photoshoot

Summer colours and fabrics
Warm and cosy textures work well at this time of year. Layering looks gorgeous too.

Brown/ tan work well as does crimson for that seasonal vibe.
Blue/ green can be quite striking against the orange leaves.
Yellow/ mustard/ orange compliment the natural background and white/ ivory/ cream/ grey neutrals always look beautiful in autumn - especially if they're textured!

Group styling
Consistent and cohesive styling and colour choices. Try to avoid completely matching, but having everyone following a similar or even a complementary colour scheme brings everyone together. Opposite colours on the colour wheel can work just as beautifully as similar colours. See more ideas on my pinterest board.

Dos and don'ts
Think smart-casual, plain but and comfortable and please avoid strong patterns, text and characters as these don't photograph well. Consider accessories such as hats, braces, bags etc but only if you/ the children are comfortable. If they feel silly in the hat, don't worry about the hat! They need to feel happy and look natural.

I'm more than happy to look at your specific choices if you need help deciding. Get in touch and we can go through the options.

"I have admired Amy's photos for years, she's photographed quite a few friends children and the photos are always stunning. Seeing as life has been turned on it's head a bit this year, we wanted a reminder of the good times during lockdown so arranged a sunset photo session with Amy the other week. Oh my goodness, the photos! They have captured our twins perfectly. Some stunning photos to go on the wall and some hilarious photos that will go in a photobook. Memories of a fun evening with Amy that we will all remember forever."
